Nissan Titan Front (M205) ARB Air Locker Update / Gauging Demand

About 3 years ago the Nissan 4×4 community started pushing for the Titan Front M205 Air Locker to be developed and we started making some headway. ARB North America sent an M205 front differential down to ARB Australia for the engineers to take a look at it and possibly start development. At the time ARB was also in the middle of redesigning the rest of their product line-up therefore the Titan Front Locker (M205) was pushed down the priority list and it seems that many people have lost hope in this project. But, I have some good news. Lately my phone has been ringing from people that want updates on this locker and more importantly information on if it’s ever going to exist.

We haven’t had any real updates on where ARB stands on the development of this locker for at least a couple years, so I decided to do a little digging. A call to the ARB Australia tech department revealed that ARB needs to be able to justify making a batch of at least 50 of these lockers.. which isn’t nearly as many as I thought they’d need. I know more than 50 people have done “Titan swaps” on their Xterras and Frontiers who want lockers, let alone the guys who actually own Titans who would like to Lock up these front differentials. At this point it’s just a matter of getting these guys to speak up and chime in by responding to this blog with a comment stating that they are interested along with a time frame that you would be looking at to seriously consider purchasing the locker as if it was available right now. (within 6 months, within one year, I have no idea but I like it!) Even if I’ve gotten calls, e-mails or had person to person conversations with you regarding this locker and I know you are interested, please comment here. If you are seriously interested in this locker, please comment below and please be honest and please spread the word on this blog.

  1. i would be interested in about two years. i just bought an ARB locker for R180 diff. if i had the option in the past for the M205, i would have purchased the M205 one. lets keep these comments going!!!!

  2. Very interested!! if they come out with this locker i wont keep pushing for r180 gears 😉 i seriously hope this happens in the near future!

  3. If this were available, I’d buy. I have gears and an m205 waiting on suspension, before it all goes in my Xterra … if a locker were available, it would be a great complement. As far as timeframe, if it were ready now, I’d buy within the year (to go in with the new gears) … I’d consider committing to the first batch, even if it meant waiting to get it & get it into the truck.

  4. ARB USA had my V8 Pathfinder about 4 years ago to prototype the front bumper for the 2008+ Pathfinder. They are awesome folks who always showed an interest in satisfying the off road community. The V8 Pathfinder also has the M205 front diff and had asked them back then to consider making a locker for the M205. I have an ARB locker in the rear for the R230 and would buy the the M205 locker in a heart beat once it gets released.

I will get the V8 Pathfinder community and to add to this. Also, the new diesel Pathfinders (sold outside the US) with the more powerful diesel engine may have an M205 front diff to handle the torque, so that might be the world market.

  5. I have an M205 in my 2006 Nissan Xterra OR, and I would buy an ARB locker for the M205 as soon as they release it.

  6. I would buy as soon as you offer to take my credit card.
I have ARB Locker rear for M226 Diff and wish to have ARB Locker for front.
Also have ARB air compressor. I LOVE ARB!! I even have an ARB hat.

  7. After I get my truck back from the shop, late tonight, I will have an M205 with 4.56’s in my 05 Frontier. I would be very interested in an ARB locker for it as well. Although I would like to put some miles on it this summer before having to tear everything apart again!

  8. I would be interested in purchasing one, I am currently running an m205 in my Frontier and have a spare one just waiting to be locked.

  9. Well I cant buy one right now but if it was available I would definately save up for it and buy one.

I actually have some email traffic with Duffy Biggs pertaining to the matter.

I have a Nissan Xterra with the M205 Titan swap. Definately could use a locker up front. Heres hoping we reach 50

  10. I have been thinking about getting ARB lockers for my C200 and r180, but if a locker were available for the M205, I would go that route instead.

    Why can’t I find a cheap hobby?

  11. very interested ive got a 205 in my xterra that sees the trail alot! id buy one today if they came out

  12. I would buy one within 3 months of being released only reason why I don’t have a M205 in my X. I went with the 180 and extended axials.

  13. I’ve been holding out on an M205 swap just for this locker to come out. I’ll buy one if it’s available

  14. I will buy one the day it’s available. Hell, I’ll pre-order one. Part of the reason I Titan Swapped the Frontier with the M205 was because I was sure that diff would get a locker before the R180. For Godsake ARB, you make awesome products, take my money and build us a locker for the M205!

  15. this m205 locker would be nice to have for the Xterra Rubicon trip in 2014.
    you saw it here first.

  16. I would order within 2-3 years. i have to do the front/rear diff swaps first, then rear locker, then front locker. i figure one major upgrade per year.

  17. I would be very interested around Christmas time. I would certainly be putting this very high on my list of things to do next.

  18. I have the M205 installed in my 2005 Nissan Xterra and having a front locker from ARB to install would be amazing. I would purchase this product as soon as it is available.

  19. I’m assuming since it’s being developed in Auatralia this will support only the 3.54 and up without midification. Is this the case?

  20. Did we make the cut? Enough deposits for production for at least one run I’m hoping …

  21. We made the cut!
The deposits have been sent into ARB to start the Project.
I’ll be sending out an e-mail announcement this evening.
