R180 4.10 Gears for Nissan Xterra / Frontier (’05+) & R51 Pathfinder

For quite a while I have been looking at the possibility of making 4.10 gears for the front differentials of the 05+ Xterra, Frontier & V6 (R51) Pathfinder.
Regearing the rear differentials to 4.10 on these vehicles has already been done for quite a few years in 2WD and in Titan swap applications, however there seems to be a demand for these R180 gears to be brought to life by Rugged Rocks. This project has been mentioned over the years and the demand seems to be steady. I’m aiming for a price point in the high $200 range ($285) which is doable if we get at least 50 pre orders. For now I’d like to collect feedback via the comments box below this post, and we’ll take a look at how much feedback we get by mid July.

If you are seriously interested in these gears, please comment below indicating if you would buy immediately, with in 1 year, or more than one year, if these gears were made available immediately. Please be honest and thank you for your input.

I’d be in for a set. Would buy within a year.
Would they be compatible with a lokka front locker?

  2. Steven,

I’d be interested – probably in a year’s time or so, maybe sooner. To be specific, I’d be after a set that are compatable with the ARB lockers and for those us with 3.69 gearing (MT OR types, M226 in the rear, etc).

Would these work there? If so, I’m in.

  3. I honestly would rather see an SAS kit for the 05+ crowd. Though I agree completely that the R180 needs more Aftermarket options. Heck, if lower gears AND and a housing upgrade was available I might be willing to change my plans and keep the IFS.

  4. If these are for the stock differentials that come with the S model, yes I’d be looking as my rear spyders are already getting rough.

    Thanks, Jim B

  5. I would definitely be interested for my R180 on my X. I would buy that, and the 4.10’s for the rear M226 immediately.

  6. If 4.10’s were available for the Xterra/Frontier R180 3.13/3.36/3.54 front carrier, for under $300 and compatible with an ARB air locker I would purchase immediately.

  7. I’m in, like other have said it will be around a year or so before i pull the trigger. It will take some time to accumulate the funds for a front locker and the rear set as well. Glad to see some support for guys that haven’t gone with the titan swap.

  8. I am absolutely in. I hope this happens fairly soon. I would like to re-gear sometime this fall. I will buy as soon as they are available. I need gears and install kits for both front and rear.

  9. I’m in, I need to regear my 2011 Frontier SL and would prefer this to a titan swap.
