With the 2022 Nissan Frontier starting to hit the lots of dealerships across the country, there are a lof of questions regarding upgradeability. Nissan Truck Platform Breif History

A few fun facts: The platform code is called the D41US, Similar to how the D21 trucks of the early 90’s progressed into the D22, the D40 truck has progressed to the D41US. This is an american only truck whereas the D23 platform was the next step from the D22 sereis which was only released outside of north america, a few years ago.

Make no mistake, there are some similarities between the platforms, but with some key notable upgrades to the D41 compared to the D40. These differences are key to understanding what will be required for the big key upgrades to really make these trucks perform in the dirt and on the trail. At first look, upgrades seem simple but as you look deeper you  start to see a twist to many things. I can’t divulge too much information here, but you can expect Rugged Rocks to be a big player with offering many key off road upgrades to this new 3rd generation Frontier.

The Fabtech 6 inch Performance System features specially valved extended length front shocks that utilize the stock coil springs for a factory like ride. Massive extended length cast steering knuckles attach to high arched lower control arm crossmembers for superior strength. A 1/4&#34 thick steel skid plate protects the front differential. Included in this system includes preinstalled wheel bearings, seals and ball joints for a quick installation. Please note that this is a &#34bolt on&#34 system that requires precision hydraulic press work to install.

  1. All ride height increases are approximate and will vary due to vehicle specification.
  2. P/N EXP-57098 recommended for extended high speed use in 4×4 HI
  • Stage II system combines MX 2.75C coil over shocks with extended length steering knuckles and rock proof one-piece lower cross members constructed from laser cut 3/16” thick steel.
  • Ride height adjustable for 5” to 6” of lift.
  • Allows full range of compression and extension travel without binding ball joints.
  • Rack and pinion steering unit remains in factory location for ease of installation.
  • Reinforced bump stop extensions and sway bar drop brackets, 2.5” cast iron rear blocks, rear add-a-leaf and top grade hardware complete a rock solid package.

  • Coil over spacers allow the use of the factory coil over front struts for reduced cost and stock ride comfort.
