Heavy Duty 300M / 4340 Choromoly CV Shafts for Nissan Xterra / Frontier R180 Font Differential by RCV

Nissan R180 CV Axle Shafts

We’ve heard the stories on the message boards and we’ve seen it at various Nissan events like GONE Moab. The ’05+ Xterra / Frontier OEM Front R180 CV axle shafts just aren’t holding up, which is why we’ve been seeking out a better option and contacted RCV Performance who makes 300m CV Joints and 4340 Axle Shafts.

The RCV outter cv joints are made of 300M and have a maximum safe operating angle of 43 – 45 degrees.  degrees. while the inner 300M CV typically see’s a nice increase in operating angle over stock as well. (no definite angles at the moment for the nissans) The shafts are made of 4340 Chromoly all of which is made here in the U.S. The CV’s are also rebuild-able and easy to maintain with a zerk fitting on the end of the shaft. The expected price is $1995.00 for the pair. and comes with a “No Questions Asked” limited lifetime warranty.

A sample shaft will be to RCV late next week and from there R&D will begin immediately (around Sept. 9th. ) and a production batch could be ready as soon as late October.

I’d like to see at least 7 people with immediate interest in these shafts to help keep things on this timeline. RCV really tries to produce at least 10 sets at a time. things start to get way too expensive if we run any less.

Please comment below if you are interested and if you  would be looking to buy within the next 3 months, 6 months, 1 year or more than 1 year.

Thank you for your interest and feedback.

Which trucks have the H233B axle?

All H233B Axles aren’t the same, they do come in a few different widths but the main difference in the differential itself, is the spline count and diameter of the axle shafts. The H233B comes in both 1.26″ / 31 Spline and 3.31″ / 33-spline versions. however the gear sets and 3rd member housings are interchangeable.

Here is a little bit better breakdown of the H233B and which trucks it came in:

Pathfinder / Terrano: Late 80’s to 1995 – 1.26″/31-spline

Pathfinder: 1996 to 2004 – 1.31″/33-spline

Hardbody Pickup V6/4×4: Late 80’s to 1997 – 1.26″/31-spline

Frontier V6/4×4: 1998 to 2004 – 1.31″/33-spline

Xterra: 2000 to 2004 – 1.31″ / 33-spline

Patrol: Late 80’s to Present – Front 1.26/31-spline & Rear 1.31 /33-spline

Nissan Xterra / Frontier (’05+) C200K Rear ARB Locker on the Way!

About 3 years ago, I went on a mission working with ARB on comparing the C200 axle of the old Nissan days to the newer C200K found in some of the Nissan Xterra and Frontier 2005+ trucks. There seemed to be a huge demand for locking up the rear axles on the 05+ Nissan Xterras and Frontiers. All the leg work, pulling trucks apart, locating old 200k axles in junk yards, measuring parts, reassembling, shipping parts back and fourth between ARB and myself … it’s all paying off. The first batch of ARB C200K lockers were assembled in Australia last week! There are only 4 that will be immediately available that are being shipped in via air freight. The next shipment is due in, in about 8 weeks.
To be one of the first people to lock your C200K axle with an ARB locker in the United States, you can order your locker here: Nissan Xterra / Frontier C200k (05+) Rear Axle Locker
