Nissan Off Road Association (NOAS) Fall Run ’08

NOAS Group Shot Nissan Off-road association of the Southeast (NOAS) had our Fall Run on September 26th – 28th at Uwharrie National Forest in Troy, NC. There was a large turn out for this event. Approximately 40 frontiers, Xterra’s, Hard Bodies and Titans showed up. Along with 50 or so members and spectators attended the event.

Members and Spectators started to arrive Thursday afternoon. After setting up camp and enjoying lunch they headed over to Dutch John Trail Head and ran Rocky Mountain Loop and Daniel. It was still dry on the trail and traction was good.

On Friday morning several more members and Spectators had arrived over night. We headed out for Wolf’s Den, Fall Dam, and Dickey Bell. After Heavy Rains and high winds over night it turned the easiest trails into a challenge it was extremely wet! I had my doubts about everyone even making it up Wolf’s Den to the big mud lake that had formed at the top of fall’s Dam. Needless to say, everybody did great. A few of the trucks even took the opportunity to bath the trucks in orange clay and stagnant water! Falls Dam was just as slick and claimed at least one rocker panel. We proceeded over to Dickey Bell and ran it without issue.

On Saturday Morning we split into 3 groups (Extreme, Moderate, and Easy).

The Extreme group headed out to the bottom of Daniel and slowly worked there way to the first obstacle. It took  4 hours to get through the first obstacle after a great deal of carnage (broken front axle, Blown Tires, broken brake line and a great deal of body damage) they ended up winching some of the trucks up the obstacle. The Extreme group decided to head back to camp to fix various problems that came up on the trail.

The Moderate Group headed out to Falls Dam, Dickey Bell and Dutch John. The moderate group was able to make way through the trails. The moderate group received little carnage (Broken Shock, Bent Slider, little body damage, and blown radiator)

The Easy group headed out to Falls Dam, Slab pile and Wolfs Den. The easy group was able to make way through the trails with little carnage (Small body damage and flooded Engine)

Saturday evening we all met back at Camp for a pot luck dinner and story’s around the fire. And a members only Raffle sponsored by Shrockworks, Icon, Rugged rocks off road, Hi-lift, Automotive Customizers, and Poly Performance..

Thank you to all of our sponsors for helping make this event happen.
