Another visit was payed to Toyota Masters today to get a quick update on the new rear suspension setup. The axle truss has tabs on it waiting for the links to be bolted into place and the new crossmember is going in. While looking at the new crossmember and ignoring my pink transfercase setup, you will notice that the old crossmember was completely removed so it doesn’t interfere with the new upper links which will now be mounted higher to raise the roll center of the truck. you will also notice, (if not blinded by pink paint) that the frame was plated on the inside to support the new crossmember along with a set of good sized gussets. Jay at Toyota Masters also drilled and tapped holes in the plate to accomodate small bolts for holding the fuel lines neatly in place.
After lining up the new crossmember tabs with the axle truss tabs, they were tacked in place. A final measurement was taken for the upper links and new upper links are being made by All-Pro Off-Road in Hemet. Comming up next, the upper links are going in, the spring perches on the axle tubes will be rotated, a pair of new shocks will be in place along with a couple new driveshaft parts. and then, it’ll be time to hit the trail.
Nice writing style. I look forward to reading more in the future.
